At the time of writing this blog, I have not played this wonderfully sounding course. In fact, truth be told, I am not sure I could even locate it on the map. But it turns out to be on the NC 500 trail, and one of the 6 designed in the late 1800’s by James Braid. Over the years, the course changed layout and is a short 5500 yards. I am happy to see that; too many courses are just “blast the ball” and these shorter courses add a dimension of short play that’s often missing these days.
The course won a prestigious award in 2016 and the website is really an excellent tool to access the history of the Club, and has very helpful links to other useful information. You can find a link to the Club here: https://muirofordgolfclub.co.uk
The NC 500 have a pass you can buy to play all the courses on the 500. Here’s a map of the area with the courses identified: Muir of Ord is to the bottom right near Inverness.
