Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Gullane 2

I played Gullane 2 for the first time ever in June of 2019 with 7 friends from New York. Previously, I had only ever played Number 3 when I was right out of Uni and was a terrible golfer. Usually the form was heavy night in the City after work Friday, get up at the crack of dawn and head to Gullane. Play in semi darkness - helpful in nursing hangover - then meet the girls for lunch in Haddington, then go for a horse ride, then dinner at The Loon Fung in Stockbridge. Pretty cool!

I think Gullane 2 is a really good golf course; 3 is pretty basic but terrific greens, and 1 can be very challenging indeed. Number 2 has a low rating and is relatively short, but it’s a really fun course, and the greens are terrific. Here’s the course layout:

Here we are … what a motley crew indeed!

I have played again a few times, most recently in 2022 with some mates from Winged Foot. Such a lovely day with sensational views over Luffness to Edinburgh and over the Firth to Fife. The course has a fairly genteel start, then heading up 3 to the top of the hill and the course begins in earnest. Some great holes meandering across and down the slope, and then back up leaving an awesome downhill 17th. The Club charges visitors a premium to play 1, rightly so, but for value for money and fun, I think 2 is a really good option.

Played again in September 2023 with two young rising star of the game - Sam and CJ M. Another brother is also an awesome player - I guess they are plus 3/4 and aged 15-17.

Gullane two with CJ, Ben, Robin, Kieran, me, Jude and Sam, plus Happy.

On 17. Just watched Sam smoke his drive beside the green.
