I was fortunate to play Pelham Country Club in April of 2022, a guest of Gene W, along with Derek and Jim, two other friends from Winged Foot. It was a fun day: golf then baseball at Yankee stadium in the afternoon.
Pelham Country Club (PCC) dates back to 1923, situated in the village of Pelham manor, just half and hour from Manhattan. Pelham is a very nice place to live, with good schools, a mix of people, and an easy commute to the City.

This is from the Club’s website: Pelham Country Club is a family-oriented Club with first-rate recreational, social and dining facilities. Located only 15 miles from Manhattan in the picturesque Village of Pelham Manor, the Club is both a community focal point and an accessible escape for city dwellers. The Club offers its members and guests excellent indoor and outdoor facilities along with gracious, friendly service in a congenial and unpretentious atmosphere.
The Club looks have a good range of facilities: there are several tennis courts, paddle courts, a nice swimming pool and what seems like a very well appointed clubhouse.
PCC’s golf course was a real joy to play. The course has undergone substantial renovation recently, and they have an excellent superintendent who has done a very nice job indeed in maintaining the course. It plays much longer than on the yardage map as there are some interesting elevations to navigate. The opening hole is a good example, so too is 8 for example. Some of the holes offer interesting challenges off the tees: tight landing areas and a whole load of trouble off you miss. 14 is a very good example. Also, the greens were good - even at this time of year they had repaired really well from winter aeration and I imagine during summer they are slick.
The only negative is that Interstate 95, which was build in the 1950’s, runs through the middle of the course, and it’s a bit of an eyesore, but really not a terrible distraction from an otherwise really good course.
The day we played it was blustery and cold - so it was a doubly challenging. I messed up every Par 3 by being woefully short, and the small and typically inverted saucer shaped greens were hard to hold. Here’s some pics of the course:
