Hi.

Welcome to my blog.

Stranraer Golf Club

I visited the Club during a short vacation in the Galloway area late 2021. In fact we stayed at Corsewall Lighthouse, just a 20 minute drive along the coast and a very fun place for a getaway. (https://www.lighthousehotel.co.uk). The couple who own the hotel and outbuildings are terrific; she is a great chef! The rooms are very nice and being so close to a rugged coast line is a real break from city life.

The golf course was designed by James Baird - his last project apparently. (The ball markers are aptly logo’d “Braid’s Last”). It seems like the Club formally opened in 1905 but golf on the current course began in the 1950’s.

Here’s a link the the Club’s website: https://www.stranraergolfclub.net

The course looks short, but relatively highly rated so must have some challenging holes. I look forward to going back to play the course sometime.
